On the study of “-isms”

“When I called Congress into extraordinary session in 1937, I pointed this out; and I announced the determination of the Federal Government to proceed with its program on all fronts with full speed.”

This is taken from the third sentence of Dogmas and Dreams: A Reader in Modern Political Ideologies, which is the primary textbook for my current PLS class. The ideology represented in the section is Liberalism, and the sentence appears in a speech by FDR appropriately titled “The Continuing Struggle for Liberalism.” I actually haven’t started any of the reading yet, and I don’t even think that piece is required. Regardless it is very indicative of what I will be studying from here on until the first week of May.
