I am an avid eater of hot and spicy (sometimes there is a difference) foods. Generally I like stuff that is how on your tongue for only a brief time, and has a good flavor. Items that are simply heat (i.e. red Tabasco and jalapeno) do nothing for me. You really need to start off with very mild levels of heat, then push yourself for slightly more intense experiences. Soon you will find things that once burned your tongue no longer have any effect. My favorite spicy food is green chile, which is excellent with anything and has an often unpredictable spectrum of heat.
